About the NSMS Podcast

While contemplating a return to broadcast radio with a morning show offer in Southern California, former sportswriter, comedian, husband, and radio host Mike ‘Lips’ Liposec spoke about the opportunity with his then-young children.

Each with on-air time previously and his youngest had several recurring appearances with him on air and in the studio. However, their initial excitement with the new opportunity was immediately quelled when it was explained that a morning show would include a 6 AM show start, meaning a much earlier alarm, and daily commutes.

After his daughter replied with “well, good luck with that”, with the briefest consideration his youngest son shook his head mournfully and responded. “They would have to call it the not so morning show”.

There was no acceptable counteroffer. However, that decline became the seeding for The Not So Morning Show in 2004. Mike respectfully turned down the on-air offer and continued with voice-over work through mikelips.com. Eventually what was a magazine-style side-site became the primary focus and after years of production, in 2019 mikelips.com was eliminated and absorbed by The Not So Morning Show, we still offer VO along with our commercial and podcast programs, and nobody has to get up at 330 AM.

Based in Orange County California, with podcasts available within walking distance of everyone, anywhere, at any time. The Not So Morning Show now hosts the Far End of the Bench, The Fn Awards, and more with Mike Lips.

Also includes informative content on renewable energy, the rise of the Electric Vehicle or EV, solar panels, and prior to those wind power, from his experience with General Motors and as an Energy Manager at a one-time leader in the solar industry, SunEdison.

We do love sports but don’t always dwell on the most popular stories, preferring to appreciate not only the Charlie Brown moments in sports and life but the efforts of those who may have missed it. Go ahead Chuck, kick the ball.

The entertainment world is fun fodder and though political alliances seem a bit extreme, there is just too much material to ignore as presented.
